So Where o’ Where did I Go (this time)?

It’s been twenty days since my last post on this blog. And, you would not believe my life since then. I am, of course, a drama queen, but indulge me for just a minute, if you will. On the day of my last post, my husband was out of town. My oldest (17) decided to be completely unhelpful. My youngest (3) was sick. I had 150 papers to grade. I had three meetings to organize and chair. My digital television service went out. My hot water heater went out. I was on (still am) this self-prescribed psycho eXtreme exercise regimen that takes three hours a day (that I don’t have). Life was crazy. A friend from graduate school used to describe moments like this as needing “triage.” D would say, “Decide what is bleeding the most and start there.” Well, this blog was low on the list, bleeding the least since it is an optional part of my professional service, so it was what got neglected.

A few days into my latest catastrophes, though, I decided I should and could make time to post. I’d read a number of books walking those 10 miles a day, and I had plenty to write about. But then I noticed the next post would be my 100th on this blog, and darn it, I wanted it to be special. So, then I couldn’t just post. I had to think about it. And think about it. Now, almost three weeks have gone by and this is totally anti-climactic (isn’t it always?). Finally, my 100th post!

In honor of this milestone, I am going to publish a “top” 100 of sorts. I couldn’t decide on the top 100 books of all time (for me), so I have decided to do ten top tens (10×10=100 of course). So they don’t get lost in this rant, the top tens will begin tomorrow. So, for my 100th, I will offer 100 books and authors in these categories

  • Women’s Experimental Narratives
  • Classics
  • Cozy Mystery Series
  • “Witchy Chicks” Authors
  • Read in 2010
  • Non-Fiction
  • Young Adult
  • Urban Fantasy
  • Paranormal (not mentioned in previous categories)
  • Books that became Films

So, that’s the plan. These posts will begin tomorrow (though maybe not in the order above). Reviews will resume immediately thereafter. (I am reading this really cool book right now that I can’t wait to blog about: A Discovery of Witches!).

Until then, Happy Reading!

  1. I hope life settles down for you soon! Sometimes it sure seems like everything shows up all at once doesn’t it? I look forward to your top 10 lists.

  2. Thanks for the encouragement, Kris!
